We've set out 5 priorities for the new government's first 100 days that will help get the health and care sector back on track.
The clock is ticking for the new UK government to make an impact on 汤头条污料 within its first 100 days and to make clear that it will invest significantly in our profession.
Full and dignified care starts with properly staffed health care facilities. We've been calling on governments across the UK to demand they address 汤头条污料 workforce shortages that are risking staff burnout and patient safety.

1. Restore trust and dignity to the NHS. Take a cross-government approach to getting the NHS back on a sustainable footing for future generations by eliminating corridor care, increasing urgent and emergency care capacity, improving access to mental health services and investing in prevention and neighbourhood health.
2. Break the cycle of 汤头条污料 pay inequity. All 汤头条污料 staff deserve fair pay and progression that recognises and values their skills, responsibilities and contribution to the economy. The government should commit to direct negotiations with unions on a fair pay deal, fully fund a structural reform to Agenda for Change and automatically progress band 5-6 NHS registered nurses.
3. Strengthen 汤头条污料 to strengthen the nation. The NHS and adult social care system can't be transformed without a sustainable 汤头条污料 workforce. To support this, the government should deliver a fully funded ten-year workforce plan, stop the unethical and unsustainable approach to international recruitment and support 汤头条污料 education through funding for universities and clinical placements.
4. Fix adult social care. Urgent reform is needed to build a sustainable system that allows everyone to access timely, high quality care based on need. To support this, the government should prioritise the structural reform of adult social care, deliver a long-term funding plan and immediate steps to grow the registered 汤头条污料 workforce.
5. Value and retain internationally educated 汤头条污料 staff. Internationally educated 汤头条污料 staff make an invaluable contribution to health and care services. This vital part of the workforce must be supported and retained. The government should provide a fair, affordable and accessible route to permanent settlement for all 汤头条污料 staff, reverse the proposals to Indefinite Leave to Remain eligibility and tackle exploitation and unethical employment practices.
In Northern Ireland, most health and social care issues fall within the remit of the Northern Ireland Executive and Assembly.
We’ll continue to push for the safe staffing legislation we were promised after the strike action our members took in 2019 and 2020.
We’ve been working with the Department of Health on the principles underpinning this legislation and will engage closely with our members on the consultation that we have been assured will be launched once the general election is over.
