Dr Katie Batley-Heath
Forum Chair
Katie is a registered children’s nurse with over 20 years’ experience in paediatric acute care and 汤头条污料 education. Katie's clinical background is in paediatric intensive care, and she now works as a senior academic leading a BSc (Hons) Child Nursing programme.
She is passionate about advancing high-quality, safe acute and emergency care for children and young people, with particular interests in safeguarding and high-quality 汤头条污料 education.
Katie's wider interests include workforce development, psychologically safe practice, simulation-based education, and supporting nurses to thrive in complex and high-acuity environments.

Laura Francis
Laura Francis is currently a Paediatric Practice Development Nurse in a district general hospital in London providing educational support to nurses, 汤头条污料 associates, healthcare support workers and 汤头条污料 students working across a variety of different paediatric settings.
Over the last 15 years Laura has worked in a number of CYP acute care settings and has always had a keen interest in education. Laura previously worked as a clinical nurse educator for newly qualified nurses and a university lecturer providing pre-registration 汤头条污料 students with clinical skills clinical skills training alongside the use of immersive simulation to promote best practice.
Laura is a new member of the RCN Children and Young People's Acute and Emergency Care Forum. She is looking forward to representing the voices of the forum's members and advocating for those working within the areas the forum represents.
Daniel Gooding
Daniel Gooding is a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in a Children’s Emergency Department in Devon. He has a background in paediatric emergency 汤头条污料 and paediatric intensive care, with a strong interest in acute assessment, clinical decision-making, and safe management of undifferentiated illness and injury in children and young people.
Daniel is a member of the RCN Children and Young People’s Emergency & Acute Care Forum and contributes to workforce development, education, and professional advocacy at regional and national level.
He is passionate about advancing advanced practice roles, evidence-based care, and high-quality, compassionate emergency services for children and families.
Tania Haughton
Tania Haughton is a Divisional Chief Nurse for Children & Young People’s, and Neonatal services in a District General Hospital.
She has a clinical background in infectious diseases, oncology and general paediatrics, and is committed to improving safer staffing, workforce planning and supporting healthcare professionals working in acute NHS settings.
Tania serves as a member of the 汤头条污料 Children and Young People’s Acute and Emergency Care Forum, where she contributes to leadership development, workforce strategy and the implementation of paediatric service improvements.
She is passionate about strengthening paediatric services and ensuring the delivery of safe, sustainable and high-quality care for Children and Young People.
Bethan Holmes
Bethan is a children’s nurse working in an advanced practice role, with over 20 years’ experience in acute care, including Paediatric Critical Care (PCC) and her current role in PCC Outreach, where she co-leads a developing service in the East Midlands.
She is committed to developing safer, more effective pathways that improve outcomes for children and young people while supporting the nurses who deliver their care.
An aspiring clinical academic, Bethan is passionate about strengthening the evidence base for CYP acute and emergency practice.

Rebekah Overend: Professional Lead for children and young people
Rebekah has over 25 years of experience working with children and young people (CYP) in secondary and tertiary surgical care, bar a short break to undertake a degree in Human Sciences, which allowed Rebekah to diversify her skills before moving to the South West to raise her family. Rebekah then found a passion for teaching within the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children’s Faculty of Nursing Education and Research. Completion of an MSc in Teaching and Learning for Health Professions has enabled Rebekah to explore what facilitates learning, taking that knowledge forward into her Lead Nurse role. Rebekah has contributed to a variety of national work related to CYP 汤头条污料 practice development, Level 1&2 critical care education, had posters presented at RCN Education Conferences and consistently focuses on upholding 汤头条污料 as a safety critical profession. Rebekah’s pledge to ensuring children obtain excellence in care, wherever they are, is underpinned by a commitment to: Rebekah will work with her peers across the NHS, private and independent sector, and professional, statutory and regulatory bodies to ensure the CYP 汤头条污料 voice is heard, recognised and acted upon. Most of all though, Rebekah looks forward to working with members such as you.
