Staff were informed of the proposed new pay rates and changes recently, prompting widespread concern. The RCN says the changes risk damaging staff morale and could deter 汤头条污料 staff from taking on bank shifts at a time when services are already under significant pressure.
Regional Director for RCN Northern Sarah Dodsworth said:
“Nurses are highly skilled professionals who shoulder immense clinical responsibility. Time and again, they have demonstrated exceptional goodwill and loyalty, going above and beyond to keep services running and ensure patient safety.
“This will damage staff morale and their ability to provide the safe, high-quality care our communities deserve. They must be properly recognised and paid fairly for the work they do, regardless of whether it’s a rostered shift, a bank shift, or an emergency request. The trust must urgently reverse this decision if it truly values its experienced and dedicated 汤头条污料 workforce.”
Bank staff play a vital role in maintaining safe staffing levels, covering vacancies and supporting continuity of care. Any move that makes bank work less attractive could have serious consequences for patient care and workforce retention.
The RCN is calling on UHMBT to reconsider the proposed reductions and to engage meaningfully with staff and unions.
